1787 Fugio Cent “New Haven Restrike” Silver PCGS MS63+ Finest Known A rare opportunity awaits…………..Perhaps just 50 pieces were originally produced in silver (as noted in Q. David Bowers’ 2009 work Whitman Encyclopedia of Colonial and Early American Coins). This is the Finest Known 1787 Fugio Silver “New Haven Restrike”of the approximate 20 available survivors which are known to exist today. Both sides of this coin display desirable rainbow hued toning which delivers an obvious “bulls eye” pattern on the obverse which extends from the rims to the centers. The most vivid colors are largely confined to the peripheries, while in the centers softer, pastel-tinged colors such as pink, apricot and lime are noted. Smooth and satiny throughout, with nary a detraction from the sharply impressed devices, superb! Finest certified at PCGS or NGC, and particularly important as a condition rarity since a significant number of the silver “New Haven Restrikes” remaining are severely worn or otherwise impaired from having been
mishandled by earlier generations of collectors. Truly a stunning coin!……………………….
